Waiting to hear feedback on this from Rish. PM seems to be the main concern with wildfire smoke but wanted to check with him if I should include anything else.

EPA's AirNow site AirNow.gov is really useful. It has real-time data and a forecast for tomorrow. Data from sensors are used to make a nation-wide map of the Air Quality Index (AQI). The AQI numbers are not the same as the concentration of PM2.5, but PM is used to calculate AQI. AQI is easy to understand with a color-coded scale, and it's the basis of Air Quality Alerts.

Thanks! Will update. And also heard back from Rish (CDC NCEH) and he agreed PM2.5 is the best measure as the other pollutants get complicated and data isn't readily or easily available.
