CSTE was founded in 1951 as the “Conference” of
State and Territorial Epidemiologists. That means
2021 marked CSTE’s 70 anniversary—a long,

celebrated history that started with Alexander
Langmuir’s convening of State Epidemiologists but is
now thousands-strong in the effort to advance public
health policy and epidemiologic capacity. CSTE has
grown into a national organization that represents
your voice at every level of government. So as the
field of applied epidemiology evolves, whether over
months or decades, we ensure you are heard at the
tables that matter most.

We’d like to thank our members for your dedication
to the overall health of the nation. Your resilience
in the face of countless public health threats is
unmatched, especially given the recent toll of
COVID-19. If you haven’t yet, please join us for the
next 70 years with a new or renewed membership.
Over 2,200 change makers and thought leaders
already call CSTE home, but we can bring public
health to new heights with more at our side.
