6 - Aggregate data over a longer period of time.docx
(50.8 KB)
Comment 1.
Cons:
- Cannot be able to compare to national SIR on hospital compare
- Cannot compare between facilities if both facilities don't have the same time period available (examples: if new hospitals open; missing data)
- May not be an ideal way to measure trends over time (I wanted to get feedback on this; at this time, I was concerned if time period is too long, rebaseline may not go far enough back)
Intermediate "pro":
- Aggregate data may continue to yield predicted less than 1, therefore, SIR will not be calculated by NHSN. If predicted greater than 0.5, you may be able to manually calculate SIR (see Sam's section)
Pro:
- Aggregate data will have a larger sample size which will yield smaller standard errors and is more likely to produce statistically significant results
- A larger sample size will be more reflective of the true observed to predicted ratio of the facility

Would an algorithm be helpful for our group? I've modified it slightly from what Z sent out. I'm hesitant to call it a hierarchy of options but perhaps it could help users decide what options are available under each circumstance. Comments/feedback appreciated! (See 6a)

I used Word track changes on the current DAPS toolkit section. Please see edits AND comments
Comment 4.
Vastly updated from last version to include many sections similar to the rates and time since last infection sections (thanks for sharing!); changes are highlighted in yellow; includes consumer and technical report considerations
