Program Accomplishments
The following pages of accomplishments have been divided into four sections: Program, Policy, Fellowship, and
COVID-19. This first section represents achievements across all six steering committees, involving dozens of CSTE National
Office staff in addition to trusted consultants, colleagues, members, and more. Trainings and meetings that were typically
hosted in-person were suddenly made virtual, a testament to the creativity and resilience of our staff. CSTE stood up
communities of practice for two major initiatives: RCKMS and the National Syndromic Surveillance Program (NSSP). Several
needs assessments in areas such as Hepatitis C and epidemiology capacity had to be adjusted for the impact of COVID-19. While
not an exhaustive list, many of these efforts are detailed below.
Trainings & Resources
• Launched a contact board to facilitate communications with STLT staff and CDC partners involved in STD surveillance.
• As co-chair of the Council for Outbreak Response: Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistant Pathogens
(CORHA), produced five chapters of CORHA Principles and Practices for Outbreak Response, which is intended to be a
comprehensive reference on HAI/AR outbreak detection, reporting, investigation, and control.
• Developed the CORHA product Candida Auris: Recommendations for Healthcare Outbreak Response.
• Provided SAS e-Learning courses to 23 HIV surveillance staff across various jurisdictions to build epidemiologic capacity.
• Hosted a four-part interactive learning series with HealthHIV, focused on identifying and sharing best practices from STLT
jurisdictions who have successfully integrated their surveillance and prevention programs.
• Developed the Core Components of Comprehensive State and Local Vector-Borne Disease Prevention Programming with CDC,
state and local stakeholders, and SGNL Solutions.
• Reviewed the 2013 CDC/CSTE Cancer Cluster Investigation Guidelines and developed recommendations for future revisions.
• Launched the RCKMS Community of Practice to provide a venue for peer-to-peer discussion and information sharing about
the use of RCKMS for electronic case reporting (eCR).
